One of the photos I took during the first sunrise of 2012.
Having a good time on New Year’s Eve can mean a lot of different things.
In my case, it meant spending a couple of days in the mountains, getting up every day before sunrise, freezing for a couple of hours and then again for the sunset, or even during the night, while looking for interesting things to photograph. All this in the company of a good friend and an awesome nature photographer, Dorin Bofan. You really should check out his website.
On the last day of our trip and the first of 2012, the conditions were just right for these amazing ice crystals to appear, standing upright in the otherwise normal snow. They look like small trees and here they are illuminated by the first sun rays of 2012.
